Partners

The EducEO –proposal is implemented by three partners, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Pajat Solutions and Plan Finland. VTT will implement the forest biomass analysis and the water quality monitoring pilots. Pajat Solutions and Plan Finland will implement the emergency data management pilot. The project partners have specific experience and background related to these three pilot activities, which enables efficient implementation of the pilots with valuable results

 VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, established in 1942, is a government organization established by law and operating under the auspices of the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is the biggest multitechnological applied research organisation in Northern Europe. VTT provides high-end technology solutions and innovation services. From its wide knowledge base, VTT can combine different technologies, create new innovations and a substantial range of world class technologies and applied research services thus improving its clients’ competitiveness and competence. Through its international scientific and technology network, VTT can produce information, upgrade technology knowledge, create business intelligence and value added to its stakeholders.

The Remote Sensing research of VTT produces image interpretation chains for domestic and international users. We develop advanced interpretation methods and introduce them to the user community. The focus of research presently is on multisource data analysis, very high resolution data analysis methods and imaging radar data. The majority of research projects are cooperative efforts with private sector, other Finnish institutions or foreign organizations. Many projects are accomplished within ESA or EC framework. The internationally recognized expertise of the group includes forestry applications, winter navigation, traffic monitoring, forest fire detection as well as the pre-processing phases of the value adding chain, i.e. geometrical and radiometric corrections of images and image mosaic compilation methods.

Pajat Solutions

Pajat Solutions Ltd. is a mobile software solutions company with personnel in Finland and development partners in three continents. Pajat Solutions personnel has extensive experience in international ICT business in general and in particular has consulted in and managed several ICT for development projects.  Plan Finland

Plan is an international development organization promoting children’s rights.  Plan has been operating in Finland since 1998. Plan International was founded in 1937. Plan has no religious or political affiliations. Plan Finland receives funding from The Finnish Ministry of Foreign affairs, and they are one of the ten partner organizations of the ministry.  With their support we run programs in 15 countries. European Union, corporates and other foundations also supports our work.

Through Plan, support is delivered quickly and reliably. Plan International works in 69 countries and runs development programs in 50 countries working with 165 million people including 78 million children. There are fundraising national offices in 22 countries.

In Plan’s world, human rights are respected and children realize their full potential as members of society. At Plan, we not only listen to children but let them participate in our work and make decisions for themselves. In addition to development projects and child sponsorship in developing countries, we also work on a national level in Finland, focus on corporate partnerships, advocacy work and communication.

In addition, Plan Finland is the organization’s “center of excellence” for integrating technology in the program work. We have been implementing technology enhanced development programs in the developing countries since 2006. Aim is to find new ways to improve the quality, reach or sustainability of the development outcomes globally. Previous and current programs include such as digitizing birth registration, child protection system development, digital data collection and mapping, educational solutions for quality education and youth participation through media.
